pRISM UPDATE dec 4, 2025

Surprise, Palm Springs — Prism Theater finally has a solid opening date, a brand-new home, and a season that is ready to roar to life.

First, a little clarity about the journey: our previous plan to open at 316 N. Palm Canyon ultimately did not move forward after differences in expectations emerged regarding Prism’s programming. Despite having a fully executed lease and working diligently toward opening, the property was no longer available to us. It was disappointing, unexpected, and entirely outside our control. But the support we received from this community throughout has kept us pushing forward — and now, we can finally share the news you’ve been waiting for.

Prism Theater Has a New Home
We have secured a long-term space on Indian Canyon — one that requires no construction, no last-minute surprises, and is ready for us to load in, light up, and bring the sparkle back to Palm Springs. This will be Prism’s permanent home for years to come, and the place where our brand of queer, campy, joy-driven theater can thrive.

Our Official First Production
We are thrilled to announce that our opening show will be:

🌲 CAMP MORNING WOOD
“Wake up and rise to the occasion.”
January 16th to March 22nd
Conceived by Marc Eardley
Book & Lyrics by Jay Falzone
Music by Trent Jeffords, Derrick Byars, Matt Gumley & Jeff Thomson
When a buttoned-up city boy stumbles into a free-spirited nudist retreat, his life — and his wardrobe — get hilariously transformed. Full of outrageous characters, feel-good spectacle, and a whole lot of liberation, this body-positive musical proves joy comes easiest when you let everything else go.

What’s Coming Next
After our campers have shown you everything they’ve got, we roll straight into a year of unapologetic queer theater:

THE BOOK OF MERMAN
"2 Morman Missionaries + 1 Legendary Broadway Diva = A New Musical REVELATION!"
March 22nd to April 2th
Book, Music & Lyrics by Leo Schwartz & DC Cathro
Two eager Mormon missionaries knock on a random New York door — and suddenly find themselves face-to-face with the Ethel Merman. What follows is a whirlwind of showbiz sparkle, tap-dance revelations, and belted high notes that could part the heavens. A divine clash of faith, fame, and fabulousness.
SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN BOTTOMS
“Sweet Snow...is a HOE!”
Mays 1st to June 28th

Book, Music & Lyrics by Ryan Landry

Snow White escapes her jealous queen only to land in a cottage full of seven overly enthusiastic bottoms — and morality never stood a chance. Packed with drag, glitter, sass, and fairy-tale filth, this royal romp flips tradition upside-down and dares you not to laugh until it hurts.

HOWARD CRABTREE’S WHEN PIGS FLY
“The side-splitting QUEER musical extravaganza.”A glitter-bomb of comedy, costumes, camp, and unapologetic queer joy.
July 10th to August 23rd
Conceived by Howard Crabtree & Mark Waldrop
Sketches & Lyrics by Mark Waldrop
Music by Dick Gallagher
A fabulously unstoppable costumer refuses to accept “never,” creating a high-camp revue where wigs defy gravity, rhinestones multiply, and showstoppers burst like fireworks. Sketches, songs, feathers and fantasy collide in a sparkling celebration of queer joy, imagination, and theatrical excess.

DEVIL BOYS FROM BEYOND
“Flying Saucers! Backstabbing Bitches! Muscle Hunks and Men in Pumps!”
September 25th to November 1st

By Buddy Thomas & Kenneth Elliott

A flying saucer crashes into a sleepy Southern town — and suddenly husbands turn into muscle gods, reporters claw for scandal, and glamour beams down from outer space. Brimming with sci-fi camp, drag comedy, and extraterrestrial sex appeal, this riotous comedy is a theatrical invasion you don’t want to miss.

For Ticket Holders
If you already have tickets or credits from our previously announced space, don’t worry — every reservation and every dollar is honored. Our team will contact all ticket holders beginning the week of December 8th to help rebook into the new venue and the updated season.
And Lastly
Thank you. Truly. You stuck with us through delays, relocations, differences in expectations, and more pivots than a drag queen in six-inch heels. Prism Theater is here — officially, finally, joyfully — and we cannot wait to welcome you into our new home.
The curtain is going up, Palm Springs.
And this time, nothing’s stopping us. 🌈✨
Drop your clothes, drop your worries, keep your sense of humor!

Fresh from its hit Off-Broadway run, Camp Morning Wood makes its first production after New York and its West Coast premiere right here! When a newly engaged couple’s car breaks down, they find themselves unexpectedly stranded at a gay nudist camp. What follows is a laugh-out-loud mix of cheeky humor, toe-tapping songs, outrageous dancing, and strategically placed props that keep things covered… mostly. Bold, irreverent, and full of surprises, this musical promises a wildly entertaining night you won’t soon forget.
